Biography

Ms. Asciuto-Herbert began her music studies at the age of 6.  In 2002, at age 17, she performed Saint-Saens’ First Piano Concerto, III with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, after winning first place in the concerto competition. That year, she also received the Southington High School Music Director’s Award for Outstanding Accompanist.

Ms. Asciuto-Herbert went on to receive her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance at Brigham Young University, studying under Richard Anderson, Jeffrey Shumway, and Irene Peery-Fox. She received full- and part-scholarships for musical and academic excellence. While at BYU, she was invited to showcase her talent in several BYU-sponsored performances, (including the piano department Area Recital, the Showcase Recital, and the New Student Orientation Recital). For the summers of 2003 and 2004, Ms. Asciuto-Herbert attended Eastern Music Festival, where she performed in numerous solo and chamber recitals. In 2009, Ms. Asciuto-Herbert won first prize in the Hi-Tech International Piano Competition (China), and performed in the Tianjin Concert Hall before many honorary guests of the Chinese government and community.

Ms. Asciuto-Herbert has served as an adjudicator for the Art City Music Academy Piano Competition in 2006, the Heber Valley Piano Festival in 2007, the Eastern Idaho Piano Concerto Competition in 2010 and 2011, the EIMTA Sonatina Competition in 2010, and the Upper Valley Music Teachers Association Competition in 2010. Additionally, Ms. Asciuto-Herbert has been asked to give numerous workshops and seminars within the various musical organizations to which she belongs.

Ms. Asciuto-Herbert holds the distinction of Nationally Certified Teacher of Music - an honor given to only the top 10% of persons within the Music Teachers' National Association. She is also a member of the Arkansas State Music Teachers Association.

Ms. Asciuto-Herbert enjoys an active schedule of concerts, both as a soloist and in collaboration with other artists. Her students have won top honors and awards in numerous festivals and competitions.
